Joseph Blenkinsopp: Creation, Un-Creation, Re-Creation: A Discursive Commentary on Genesis 1-11

Creation, Un-Creation, Re-Creation: A Discursive Commentary on Genesis 1-11

Description

This is a new commentary volume looking at the theological and literary motivations of "Genesis" 1-11. Joseph Blenkinsopp provides a new commentary on "Genesis" 1-11, the so-called 'Primeval History' in which the account of creation is given. Blenkinsopp works with the conviction that, from a biblical point of view, creation cannot be restricted to a single event, nor to two versions of an event (as depicted in "Genesis" 1-3) but, rather, must take in the whole period of creation arranged in the sequence: creation - uncreation - recreation (as can be derived from "Genesis" 1-11). Through the course of the commentary, presented in continuous discussion rather than in a rigid verse-by-verse form, Blenkinsopp takes into account pre-modern interpretations of the texts, especially in the Jewish interpretative tradition, as well as modern, historical-critical interpretations. Blenkinsopp works from the perspective of acknowledging the text's literary integrity as an 'authored' work, rather than focusing simply on the its background in various sources (whilst of course paying due attention to those sources). This enables Blenkinsopp's engaging discussion to focus upon the literary and theological artistry of the material at hand.

Sir Hacon Gillard is moved by Jennet's compassion and mercy. As a loyal knight, he's pledged fealty to his king's command, even as he loses his heart to this remarkable woman. Merciless in combat . . . yet there burns within him a spark for something far beyond the heat of battle . . . What are the odds? Together with Ian Schoenherr's breathtaking illustrations, this is a truly stunning package from cover to cover. Contains a teaser chapter of the sequel, "The Apprentices." The 17 Day Diet offers readers a plan that will help them change their eating habits, their health and their life. Now, The 17 Day Diet Workbook provides a more structured dieting experience for readers who want extra guidance and direction. The workbook will open with a brief overview of the 17 Day Diet plan and philosophy, and will outline for readers how to use the workbook to get the most out of it. The book then provides readers with daily planning tools for the 4x17 Thomas Flintham's Marvellous Mazes ebook pdf day cycles of the diet. Every day will have a unique food chart, shopping lists, 17-minute workout, tips from Dr Mike, space for dieters to track their food and water intake, and a notes section to keep track of personal progress. Each section will also talk about common barriers that dieters might experience in the different cycles, and offer suggestions for how to keep the diet on track including food tracking and maintenance journaling.
